Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions from stone fabricators about Venom diamond polishing pads, blades, CNC tooling, and orders.
Pad Selection & Materials
Which Venom pads should I use for quartz?
For engineered quartz (Silestone, Caesarstone, Cambria, and similar), use the Venom Hybrid Pads. They're a 3-step system specifically engineered for quartz surfaces and deliver a mirror-like gloss in three passes. For dark quartz or surface repair work, the Black Mamba Turbo Pads are the right choice.
Which pads should I use for granite?
For granite and other natural stone, use a full grit sequence system. The Venom Rush Jumpers are built for this — a Spider-style pad in full grits that handles the complete range from coarse scratch removal to final polish on granite, marble, and quartzite.
Can I use the same pads for quartz and granite?
You can, but it's not ideal. Engineered quartz and natural stone respond differently to polishing systems. Most professional shops keep a 3-step system for quartz and a full grit sequence for granite and natural stone to get the best results on each material.
What pads work best for quartzite?
Quartzite is one of the hardest materials to fabricate. Use the Venom Black Mamba Turbo Pads for surface work and the Venom Shark T-Turbo Core Bits for drilling. For polishing, run a full grit sequence and take your time — quartzite requires more passes than granite.
What's the difference between wet and dry polishing pads?
Wet pads are designed to be used with water, which manages heat, extends pad life, and produces a cleaner finish. Dry pads are more convenient on job sites where water isn't available. Most Venom pads are designed for wet use, though many fabricators run them with a light mist when full wet polishing isn't practical.
What does grit number mean?
Grit refers to the coarseness of the diamond particles in the pad. Lower numbers (50, 100) are coarser and remove scratches and material faster. Higher numbers (1500, 3000) are finer and produce a high-gloss polish. You always work from low grit to high grit — skipping grits results in haze or inconsistent sheen in the final finish.
How to Use Venom Products
What's the correct grit sequence for polishing granite?
The standard sequence for granite is: 50 → 100 → 200 → 400 → 800 → 1500 → 3000, followed by a buff pad. Don't skip grits — each step removes the scratches left by the previous one. Skipping steps shows up as haze at installation.
How do I know when to move to the next grit?
When the scratches from the previous grit are completely gone and the surface has a consistent finish at that level, you're ready to move up. Running your hand across the surface and checking at an angle in good light will show any remaining scratches.
How long do Venom pads last?
Pad life depends on the material, machine speed, pressure, and whether you're polishing wet or dry. Under normal production conditions, Venom Hybrid Pads and Rush Jumpers are built for high-volume use and will significantly outlast generic pads. Running pads dry or at excessive pressure shortens their life.
What polisher should I use with Venom pads?
Venom pads are compatible with standard 5/8-11 thread variable-speed wet polishers. For best results use a variable-speed machine so you can adjust RPM to the material — lower speeds for softer or darker stones, higher speeds for harder materials.
Can I use Venom pads on porcelain or Dekton?
Yes. For porcelain and Dekton use the Venom Ceramic Bite 3-Step Pads, which are specifically formulated for ceramic resin technology and handle the hardness of these materials without chipping or burning.
